EDUCO Africa

Find your potential

Educo Africa believes in the inherent potential of every young South African Our wilderness programmes are designed to unlock this potential, using the great outdoors as a powerful platform for reflection, healing and growth

Live your potential

To flourish, our youth also need access to the formal economy. Educo Africa supports young people to generate their own livelihood through our entrepreneurship and skills development programmes We believe strongly in the power of mentorship, and have developed a successful internship model that provides benefits to both the intern and host employer

Our mission is to teach Young people so that they understanding their roles as powerful agents for change – actively, confidently and positively contributing towards a better global community

Sisonke Programe

Sisonke programmes work with existing institutions that open up educational and economic opportunities for young people from low-income backgrounds. They use wilderness based experiential learning to support organisations that work directly with individuals impacted by trauma, abuse, chronic illness, and poverty

Ukuzazi Programme

Our Ukuzazi programmes use wilderness-based experiential learning to assist participants to develop deeper self-awareness and unlock their innate leadership potential As young leaders they are then able to drive positive change within their schools, universities, sports clubs and religious institutions, and in doing so build stronger communities and, ultimately, a better South Africa

Sihambela Phambili

Our Sihambela Phambili programmes are designed to help address South Africa`s youth unemployment crisis through skills development and work-placement opportunities Our funded internships match graduates with suitable host employers, who provide mentorship and training

Our Mission

To develop in young South Africans a sense of vision, initiative, contribution and personal responsibility, with emphasis on taking charge of the future through active citizenship and community building, collaborative leadership, a spirit of Ubuntu, and care for the environment

Programmes awaken a core sense of individual purpose and possibility, of responsibility and humility, and adaptive resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks

Training takes place through Action-Learning that is experiential, adventuresome, applied-in-the- moment, and accessible across all academic levels

The first phase of our programme uses wilderness experiential learning as a profound platform for young people to DISCOVER their potential. The second phase is a youth movement supporting young people in LIVING their potential, with a specific focus on social and environmental well being

2.Educo was founded following a rallying call from Nelson Mandell who challenged individuals and organisations to come together to build solutions for underserved, underprivileged and vulnerable young Africans: “The youth of our country are the valued possession of the nation.
